Architectural Restoration
Restoration and reconstruction of decorative architectural and sculptural elements at historically significant sites in Latvia, including the Corner House (Stūra māja) in Riga, historic bridges in Ķemeri Park, and sculptural sphinxes on an Art Nouveau façade on Alberta Street, Riga, alongside other restoration projects.

Artist Statement
Andris Marackovskis’ artistic practice is rooted in sculpture but is not limited to a single medium. He works with sculptural and found objects, installation, space, light, sound and video. Central to his work is the relationship between an object and its context — as the environment changes, so does the meaning of the object, shifting between an everyday thing, a historical trace, a set element, a simulation of reality and an artwork.
Marackovskis’ artistic thinking has also been shaped by his practical experience in architectural restoration, exhibition production and film set dressing. Working across these fields has strengthened his interest in material, construction and the boundary between what is real and what is constructed. In his practice, the technical process is not separate from the artistic idea — making itself is a way of thinking.
Punk and hardcore culture have also been an important influence, particularly its DIY ethos, directness and independent approach to making. This perspective was shaped further by periods of hitchhiking across Europe and staying in squats and self-organised spaces — experiences that brought him into contact with alternative ways of living, making and organising outside established structures. His works often develop through a similar openness to experimentation, materials and situations rather than through the execution of a fully predetermined final image.
This approach continues through AwithA, his collaborative practice with Agita Marackovska, where sculpture, installation and professional experience in special effects come together.
